Our journey
Norsag’s story is rooted in a passion for plants and a commitment to sustainability. Over time, we have grown to become a trusted name in the horticultural industry, merging technical expertise with a love for nature. We are continually guided by innovation, care, and dedication to the land.

Norsag has a very unique origin story. The name Norsag, short for "The Norwegian South African Group," traces its roots to Jan Egil Skaara Andersen, a Norwegian entrepreneur with a background in International Trade and construction and his wife Kirstin an artist and designer of the decorative pots.

Andersen used his diverse knowledge and experience and recognised a need for European and Scandanavian products in Africa. Particularly to an increasingly environmentally conscious and resource-scarse Africa, by enhancing durability and water conservation practices.​
In early 2022, a chance meeting between Jan Andersen and Tinus Diedericks would set the course for the future of Norsag. Tinus, a well-established entrepreneur with several businesses under his belt, was searching for unique pots to showcase at his garden center, Talana's Treasure.
​​Jan, who was currently residing in Plettenburg Bay, had fallen ill forcing him to put a pause on his beautiful pot production, and during his search for Talanas Treasure, Tinus recognised that Jan had no one attending to his business affairs.
​
Tinus sought out for Jans contact information and expressed his desire to meet in person. They both finally met, and immediately clicked. Their conversation flowed easily, where they shared stories about their lives, experiences, and Jan’s deep-rooted love for both South Africa and his home country, Norway.​​
It soon became clear that Norsag was more than just a business that made pots. Tinus saw the potential and understood that a change in location was needed to help the company grow. He offered his support, and together, they made the move happen, carefully working through each step needed to take the business to the next level.​
​Jan took on a mentorship role, passing on his wealth of knowledge to Tinus. Their partnership grew stronger with time, and they became close, both professionally and personally. Sadly, Jan passed away in July 2023, but not before leaving a lasting mark.
